ASLMS Fundamentals of Lasers in Health Care Course

Dr. Goldberg lectured at the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery (ASLMS) 2015 Annual Conference held at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center, April 22-26, 2015. A faculty member of ASLMS, Dr. Goldberg led a number of talks for the Fundamentals in Health Care Course on April 22. This CME credit course is designed to introduce physicians and other clinicians, scientists, researchers, and laser and related technology industry personnel to the field of laser and other light-based technologies and their application in health care. His talks included, the plenary session on "30 years of Laser Adventures," “Addressing Complications of Laser Procedures,” “Tattoos, Pigmented Lesions, Melasma, and Laser Treatment of Darker Skin Types”, and “Video Demonstration and Discussion of Laser Endpoints”.
Gerald N. Goldberg, MD is the President of the Arizona Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery Society (ADDSS). This group focuses on best practices and emerging trends in dermatology as well as advocacy on its behalf. This year, ADDSS will be focused on HB 2493 which is a bill that would ban minors under the age of 18 from using indoor tanning devices.

This “must attend” event for professionals in dermatology took place January 16 - 17, 2015 in Orlando, Florida. Delegates experienced the industry's most innovative technology with a variety of hands on workshops, live demonstrations, and dynamic roundtable discussions. Dr. Goldberg presented on topics which included, “Challenging Cases from a 30 Year Experience or Adventures and Misadventures in Laser therapy”, and a workshop on “Fractional and Full Ablative CO2 Laser Skin Rejuvenation".
Cosmetic Surgery Forum

Dr. Goldberg spoke about various laser cases at the 7th Annual Cosmetic Surgery / Dermatology Forum in Las Vegas, Nevada. This multi-specialty educational, three-day symposium, covers the latest research, treatment and techniques in dermatology and cosmetic surgery. The course provides interactive and hands-on demonstrations, presentations and discussions. Led by course director Joel Schlessinger, MD, Cosmetic Surgery Forum is intended for dermatologists, core cosmetic surgeons, residents and fellows. Dr. Goldberg presented “Laser Cases: How Would You Fix This?” and talked at the New Physician Forum.

American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery (ASLMS) 2014 Annual Conference
Gerald N. Goldberg, MD lectured at the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery (ASLMS) 2014 Annual Conference held at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona, April 4 – 6, 2014. This conference is the premier venue for Laser education internationally. Dr. Goldberg moderated an all-day session on “Fundamentals of Lasers in Healthcare” where he was a Moderator for the Laser Fundamentals Course. He presented three hours of lectures on Fractional and full Ablative CO2 Laser Skin Rejuvenation, Vascular Lesions (with emphasis on Port Wine Stains) and video endpoints of cutaneous Laser therapy.
He also presented an abstract, “Pulsed Dye Laser, Fractional CO2 Laser and Topical Rapamycin for the Treatment of Hypertrophic PWS”, with Jennifer Ang, MD. He was an invited panel member of experts discussing the Cutera Excel V Laser - the newest state-of- the-art Vascular Laser for cutaneous vascular anomalies.
Dr. Goldberg’s 30-year history with Lasers makes him an international authority on Lasers for the skin and an integral contributor to the ASLMS. He is currently a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of Arizona where he has been on faculty since 1984 instructing medical students and residents. He is a preceptor for Dermatology residents for the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) as well as the ASLMS.

Dr. Goldberg, a faculty member of the prestigious Beckman Laser Institute, lectured for the third year in-a-row at the 2013 CME-accredited educational weekend Laser Aesthetics Course in Irvine, CA. Over this weekend, physicians and other clinicians who use or are investigating the use of lasers in their practice, acquired a greater understanding of lasers and other light energy-based technology and their use in clinical applications.
Dr. Goldberg gave an insightful talk on "Fractional and Full Ablative CO2 Laser" and a "Video Endpoints Session". Attendees learned valuable information about these powerful lasers and the various innovative treatments now available for patients and the many conditions they can be applied to.
The program also featured renowned faculty J. Stuart Nelson, M.D., Ph.D., E. Victor Ross, M.D., and Emil A. Tanghetti, M.D.
Spring of 2013 was a very busy season for Dr. Gerald Goldberg, who gave talks to national, regional and local audiences. He attended various annual meetings and provided his knowledge and expertise throughout his travels. At the American Academy of Dermatology's Annual Meeting held in Miami Beach, Florida in March, Dr. Goldberg led a two-hour forum of video endpoints of Skin Lasers. He presented on Vascular Lesions and Port Wine Stains at the 33rd ASLMS Annual Conference (American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery) in Boston, Massachusetts on April 4th, highlighting video treatments using skin Lasers. In addition, he conducted a full one-hour course on the use of Vascular Lasers for the Fundamentals of Lasers in Health Care Course.
Also in April, Dr. Goldberg lectured on "Skin Signs of Systemic Disease” at the University of Arizona College of Medicine to the entire second-year class. In May, he spoke with Residents in Dermatology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) on "Practical Pearls from 30 Years of Private Practice." The lectures were thorough, entertaining, and well-received.
Dr. Goldberg presented at the Pima County Medical Society on Skin Cancer prevention, detection, and treatment. He also talked about what's new in Laser Skin Rejuvenation including the latest advances in Laser Skin Treatment. The presentation included an informative and entertaining Q & A session featuring Dr. Beal.

Dr. Goldberg gave a riveting talk, “Update on Birthmarks 2012,” at the Department of Pediatrics Grand Rounds at the University of Arizona on February 23, 2012 for resident and community physicians. He spoke about some of the latest medical and surgical advances and new approaches to the management of birthmarks, particularly those concerning children with Hemangiomata, Port Wine Stains, and Angiofibromata in Tuberous Sclerosis. Dr. Goldberg was a key speaker at a memorial tribute for Sandra “Sandy” Tountas, who passed away from Melanoma in May, 2011. Her friends, known as the “Divot Divas,” organized a special luncheon held at La Paloma Country Club on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 to honor their dear friend and to focus on Melanoma awareness. Dr. Goldberg spoke to the group about the dangers of sun and skin, skin cancer, and the many options available for skin cancer prevention and skin rejuvenation. It was a very pleasant afternoon of caring, sharing, and raising skin cancer awareness among those gathered to honor Sandy.
