Laser Dermatology

“Why waste time? I wish I would have done this years ago. I spent so much energy on other avenues that didn’t do as much. These aesthetics at Pima Dermatology really make a difference. The practice shows so much progress in dermatology. As a nurse, I can see the investment in laser devices and equipment used. There is also a huge investment in education that can also be seen and felt. As a result, patients really benefit. Patient satisfaction is a major element here.” — Kimberly D.

Laser Dermatology Devices in Tucson

Below you’ll find a comprehensive list of each of the lasers offered by the skincare specialists at Pima Dermatology:

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Laser

The carbon dioxide (CO2) laser can operate in a more aggressive full ablative mode for CO2 resurfacing. It’s usually performed as a single treatment, and recovery time is typically around 14 days. The CO2 laser is often used for wrinkles, skin tightening, acne scarring, and scar remodeling.

Cutera® Excel V

The Cutera Excel V is more powerful and versatile than the previous generations of lasers used to treat redness and red lesions on the skin. It is effective in treating a number of conditions. This laser comes equipped with both a green light laser for red lesions as well as an infrared laser for blue vessels and skin toning and tightening. The number of treatments can vary depending on the condition.

Cynosure® Elite

Elite is powered by advanced, patented MultiPlex™ technology. The Elite uses two wavelengths to address unwanted hair in all skin types.

EndyMed 3DEEP

EndyMed 3DEEP™ technology is a multi-source, phase-controlled radio frequency (RF) energy that is state-of-the-art, safe and, effective. This energy treatment method enables the delivery of controlled heat deep into the skin while preserving the overlying epidermis. This device is frequently used in micro-needling treatments.

Erbium: YAG Laser

The Erbium: YAG Laser allows for a much more precise and less painful laser treatment than standard CO2 lasers. It is an ablative laser which is absorbed by water in the skin. The treatment can work well for delicate areas such as the neck or chest and is often used to treat acne scarring and seborrheic keratosis.

Palomar Icon Intense Pulsed Light Device

While not technically a laser, intense pulsed light uses an intense broad band of light to stimulate changes in the skin. Unlike lasers, this treatment is non-ablative (it does not damage the surface of the skin). There is very little downtime involved with this treatment. IPL is an effective treatment for brown spots and red vessels.

Pulsed Dye Laser

A pulsed dye laser is ideal for treating conditions that are made up of blood or blood vessels such as spider veins, port wine stains, hemangiomas, rosacea, and warts, among other conditions. Patients should expect to feel a slight discomfort similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin. Treatments usually only take a few minutes. Slight bruising can occur but it usually disappears after 7-14 days.

Sciton® Halo

The Sciton® Halo is the world’s first and only Hybrid Fractional Laser that delivers a non-ablative and an ablative wavelength to the same microscopic treatment zone. Combining these two wavelengths creates a strong synergistic effect, resulting in ablative results with non-ablative downtime. Halo targets discoloration, sun damage, visible signs of aging, and uneven skin tone. Halo Pro Fractional treatments address enlarged pores, pore texture, fine lines, and scar revision, including acne scarring.

Sciton® ProFractional

The Sciton ProFractional™ uses a 2940 nm Erbium YAG laser. It is a wonderful alternative to CO2 laser skin resurfacing, as it’s faster and more easily tolerated. The overall appearance of skin is improved using an Erbium laser to treat thousands of pinpoint areas of the skin. As only a fraction of the skin is directly treated with the laser, healing of the skin is in a matter of days rather than weeks. The ProFractional™ laser addresses texture and tone and conditions such as fine lines, wrinkles, various scars, skin tightening, hypopigmented scars, and stretch marks.

SmartXide DOT Laser

The SmartXide DOT™ laser with DOT Therapy is ideal for various skin types including the treatment of skin laxity and wrinkles, texture, dyschromia, dermal lesions, photoaging, acne scarring and scar reduction. Dermal Optical Thermolysis (DOT) is the ideal approach to skin rejuvenation. It creates thousands of microscopic perforations, which induce immediate skin tightening and stimulate new collagen growth, improving the skin’s tone and texture to improve fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars, with minimal downtime.

Candela TriVantage Laser

The TriAdvantage laser is used to treats brown spots and red tattoo pigments (cosmetic or pro).
This device features two wavelengths and requires no downtime.

Candela Vbeam Pulsed Dye Laser

Vbeam uses multiple passes and/or in combination with other “no downtime” treatments. “Dynamic cooling” with synchronized cryogen spray coordinated with each pulse. Vbeam can treat port wine Stains, some selected hemangiomas, acne scarring, poikiloderma, scars, keloid scars, blush-like rosacea, warts, venous lakes, angiomas, bruising (traumatic or cosmetic), and post-surgical redness.
